Pastor John Trump

Pastor Trump likes to lean on his Pennsylvania roots, but after having lived more than half his life in South Carolina, this is home. St. Andrew’s is where he arrived after serving parishes in New York City and, afterward, in Georgetown, SC during Hurricane Hugo recovery. St. Andrew’s is where he married Beth and raised their twin boys. Here is where he inspires parishioners with tales of bicycling, marathon running, college football playing, and growing up the son of a Lutheran pastor in “God’s Country,” Lancaster, PA. Here is where he does his favorite thing: teach the Word of God, which he does in Bible studies, in sermons, and through writing plays. A third generation Lutheran pastor, he graduated from Muhlenberg College with a bachelor’s in English Literature, then obtained a Master of Fine Arts (playwriting) from Columbia University before receiving his Master’s of Divinity from Yale University. He enriches his own faith through sharing God’s compassionate care. He and Beth love to read, travel, raise chickens, play with their dogs, and visit with their boys, who now both live out of state working as doctors.
