Women of the ELCA (WELCA)

Members of the WELCA (Wome of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) are committed to growing in faith, affirming their gifts, supporting one another in their callings, engaging in ministry and action, and promoting healing and wholeness in the church and community. Members contribute in a number of creative and generous ways to the overall social ministry effort of the church.

Ministries supported by WELCA include preparing meals for bereaved families and new parents, visiting shut-ins, supporting missionaries, supporting the work of local charities, sewing pillows and blankets for the sick and disabled, just to mention a few. WELCA also plans and presents a variety of events and coordinates special projects for church-wide participation.

St. Andrew’s WELCA group holds a large meeting once a quarter, often hosting guest speakers or special entertainment; members also have the opportunity to meet once every month through smaller women’s circles.

For more information on WELCA and its programs and opportunities, contact the church office at 772-6034 or Betty Dawkins.
